Members of the Charles City Rotary Club are permitted and encouraged to have a spouse or companion participate in the local Rotary Club activities in their place, or, to participate jointly with them in these activities. It is not uncommon for spouses and companions of Rotarians to participate with them in Club fundraisers or service activities and, because it is sometimes difficult for a Rotarian to attend a meeting or a Rotary activity because of a business or family conflict, it is beneficial to the Club and to the member’s family for the spouse or companion to attend in place of the Rotary member. The spouse or companion will be required to pay for all meals consumed at local meetings and activities and, if attending alone, pay all other expenses that would be incurred by the Rotarian. If a Rotarian and his or her spouse or companion attend an event together then fines or contributions will be assessed only to the Rotarian member. Only the member spouse may vote and hold office.
