  • The last home football game is this Friday - come cheer on our Comets!

  • Congratulations to Randy Heitz on his upcoming retirement on Dec. 31!

Announcements:
  • Scrap Metal Drive Results - We collected 143,800 lbs that will result in about $2,000 raised. In addition to a lot of metal, we also collected 60 TVs. Chris will be looking for a few volunteers to help load the TVs to go to the landfill at a later date. Great work everyone! The efforts were much appreciated in the community.

  • President's Social - Oct. 30 - As a thank you for the efforts during the scrap metal drive, President Kay will host a social at the Elks Lodge on Wed. Oct. 30 starting at 4:30pm.  Snacks and beverages will be available. Come celebrate a job well done!

  • Fall Play - Fri. Nov. 1.  - The Club will attend the fall play, Joeseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. Tickets are $10. Sign up to get your tickets and sit with our group. Guests welcome!

  •  Harassment Committee - At the direction of the District, the Board has voted to establish a committee and policies for the handling of harassment. The committee will provide information on the policy and procedures at a future meeting.

Fun & Frolic: Ron James provided food trivia to test our brains.

Program: This week's program was a Club assembly on Exchange Program and Fundraising.
  • The Youth Committee has received a request to sponsor an outbound student from Charles City. In turn, we would host an inbound student next year. Dean Stewart will be coordinating an information meeting with the District Outbound Exchange Coordinator to help us decide if this is something our Club can take on. Please let Dean know ASAP if you have an interest in being part of this discussion, especially as a host family or committee member. He will ensure you are part of the discussions and decision making.

  • Soup Supper - Jan. 18 - The soup supper will once again be held at the Elks.  A subcommittee is needed to help plan this event. The homemade soups and new location were a hit last year. The committee needs to decide details and budget for the soup (possibly hiring or paying for supplies) as well as plan shifts and duties for volunteers during the event. See Kay if you would like to be on the committee and mark your calendar to help the evening of Jan. 18.

  • Radio Auction - Feb. 1 - This will be the 11th Annual Radio Auction! This is a big fundraiser for our Club and group-wide participation is needed. Please be thinking about items that you could donate, contribute towards or request as a donation from others. We have had some really cool items in the past thanks to the efforts of our members. We need to start collecting items Jan. 1 to have everything in hand and ready to promote by mid-January.

Next Week's Assignments
* Reminder: If you are not able to attend, please find someone to fill in for your assignment. *

Quarterly Salad Option  - In an effort to address member requests for salads, the Club is going to offer a salad option next quarter.  Members can choose to have a salad instead of the main entree for the quarter. Those taking the salad meal can still take the other parts of the regular meal (bread, dessert, drinks, etc.).  The cost will remain the same.  See Marcie to try this option for a quarter.
