Treasurer's Report: The Ellen's scholarship fund is at $1,650 to date. About $1,600 in donations were collected for the disaster trailer last week. Funds were able to be spent locally to buy additional supplies.
Honors and Illnesses:
Kay Winkelman's father-in-law was put on hospice services. Today is also the anniversary of her mother-in-law's passing. Prayers for the Winkelman family during this time.
Continued prayers for Dan Elthon's sister Vicki. She has moved to rehab and starting to show some signs of improvement including walking.
Jean Troge, Ann's mom, fell and broke her hip last week. She had surgery and is recovering at 11th Street Chautauqua.
A sculpture in Ellen's memory has been placed at the accident site south of town on Shadow Avenue. The bike club also created memorial shirts that are available at ArtWear.
Announcements:
ROUND TWO - Rotary Derecho Donation Trailer - Due to the ongoing need in Cedar Rapids, the Club will once again set up the donation trailer on Thursday, August 27 from noon to 8 p.m. on the south side of the Hy-Vee parking lot. This round will focus on food, baby items and household goods.
Thanks to our awesome team of volunteers who have already filled the shifts!
The Club has decided not to proceed with participating in the demolition at the skate park. Members didn't feel our group was well suited to this task at this time.
Zoom Link - Login in starting at noon. The meeting will kick-off at 12:10 pm.
Fun & Frolic: Members shared little-known facts about themselves. Watch the recording to hear them all!
Program: Bill Feller and Chris Garden gave a report on volunteer efforts in the Cedar Rapids area. Bill is a Red Cross Disaster Responder and spent the better part of a week setting up and operating shelters in the area.
Chris reported on the ongoing needs and operations of the donation center in Marion.
If members are able to volunteer, they still need people to come. Many of the current volunteers are worn thin with the extended length of the cleanup efforts. Jobs include working in the distribution center as well as clean up.
