The current levy expires in 2030. Voter approval of this measure would extend the existing levy through 2040. Renewal of the levy in this election will allow funding to continue at the same level for the next 14 years. Because this measure is a renewal of an existing levy, 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀.

By state law, PPEL funds are restricted to specific infrastructure and hardware expenditures. Eligible uses include school bus maintenance and replacement, building security upgrades, and general facility upkeep.

Past PPEL projects for the Charles City Community School District include school security door readers to keep building entrances secure, school bus and vehicle repair and replacement, replaced sewer lines at the High School, fire alarm replacement, and numerous others that allow the district to offer safe and positive learning environments.
