Program: This week's program was a Club Assembly to bring everyone up to date on current club business and projects:
Budget - The Board has had to make decisions to cover the costs of weekly meetings. Over time, the costs of meals and rental of the Elks Lodge have increased. The $9 per week that has been charged for meals is not covering the costs for the meal and rental fees. That has left the Club to cover the shortfall. In order to keep fundraising for projects, the following changes are coming:
Club Admin Fee - Starting this quarter, members will be billed a $25 per quarter admin fee that will cover the costs of the facility rental.
During the Assembly, a discussion was held on possible alternate locations to save money. The Club explored numerous alternative sites about 5 years ago, and it was determined that Elks was the best fit for meeting logistics and size. Possible new locations since that time could be the Veterans Room at FCMC or Hot Shots. The Board will have further discussion on these options.
Meal Rate - Starting on the April billing, meals will be increasing to $10 per week. This covers the actual per meal charge from the catering service. Members can use the meal opt-out option if they would prefer not to pay for meals and reduce their costs.
Soup Supper - Jan. 18 - This year's event will feature homemade chili and a variety of premade soups along with slider sandwiches. A member has once again donated pies. A grant from Thrivent will help cover the costs of site rental, paper products, and supplies. The committee is finalizing ticket details and will be asking members to sell tickets ASAP. Volunteer assignments are also in process.
Radio Auction - Feb. 1 - It's one month to auction day! Keep the items coming into Circle K. Tammy and Veronica will kick-off marketing this week. For items to be featured on the soup supper placemats, we will need the no later than January 10.
In the 2016-17 Rotary year, a record US$140.2 million was donated to The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund. The Annual Fund is the primary source of unrestricted support for the programs of The Rotary Foundation. From digging clean water wells for villages in Africa to teaching basic literacy skills to children in Latin America, during any given moment in a day, thousands of Rotarians volunteer their time and expertise to ensure that all contributions given to the Annual Fund are spent wisely on quality Rotary projects. The Annual Fund is comprised of donations from Rotarians, friends of Rotary, corporations, workplace giving vehicles and can be matched by corporate matching gifts to leverage your donation. There is even an online resource that allows you to see if your company has a charitable matching program…check it out at: www.rotary.org/matchinggifts
