regarding the devastation in Nepal:
Thank you to the many who have expressed their interest in our daughter-in -law’s family in Nepal. It has been humbling to recognize that to many of our friends, through Alex and Roshni, that Nepal is much more than a different colored country on the globe! Their home community is not near where the flooding occurred. However, they have trekked through that region and know it well.
The geographical beauty of Nepal has very serious consequences, some of which the world watched last week. It’s happened before and will continue to be a problem to the country. Alex took a leave from his construction management position to help in Nepal following a smaller version of last week’s disaster approximately 14 years ago. Good things can come from tough situations as that is how he met his wife!
I have been corresponding for the last two years with a university president who was a charter member of a Rotary Club in the community next to where Roshni grew up. Alex and I met with him and two other Rotary officers the last time we were there. He sent me this English edition of an article he authored. He explains the effects of global warming on their country. He notes Nepal is a very small contributor to the issue, but is a major recipient of the effects of it. Read it here
Thank you for the concerns that many have expressed.
