Fun & Frolic: Marice Andrews tested our knowledge of local current events from the Charles City Press.
Program: This week's program was presented by Bill Cavanaugh with the Charles City Cares group. Their annual community Thanksgiving will be held on Thursday at Messiah Lutheran Church. They are set with donations and volunteers, but come to enjoy a meal. Bill also shared about other community programs that CC Cares helps with including the bike rodeo (May), backpacks and food for National Night Out (Aug), and support for students and families in our school district who have needs including food, clothing or household items.
Superintendent Mike Fisher also shared the group's role in a new initiative from the Charles City Community Schools designed to help students and families that are temporarily homeless. The funds are administered by the school district and paid directly to a local hotel or other local vendors.
In some areas of the world, weekly meetings begin with all members standing and reciting the Object of Rotary. This statement, which comes from the Constitution of Rotary, is frequently seen on a wall plaque in Rotarians' offices or place of business.
